We had been told about Indigo, but the experience was even better than we expected. The menu is extensive and so is the wine list with some really good wines available. Pickles and poppadoms arrived immediately. The meals (Butter Lamb and Mango Chicken) were delicious with good sized portions. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cosmopolitan and sophisticated.
A minimalistic setting – a beautiful old building, restaurant not cramped. Indigo is the talk of the town so I had to give this restaurant a try!. Table wait on a Thursday Evening at 8.30pm was 20 minutes as I hadn’t made a reservation which I might add is recommended. Seated on a comfortable booth, I ordered the Onion Bhaji and for main the Chilli Chicken. When the main course arrived, I was pleasantly pleased at the size of the meal, usually expecting a small portion, this was definitely a large portion. Wow – can I use the word “Orgasmic”, when I placed the first mouthful in my mouth, my taste buds crackled and popped and there is nothing that can explain the experience of this food. Brilliant, the presentation was exceptional, definitely a “Value for Money meal, although priced more expensive than other Indian restaurants, they are definitely less expensive when you consider the quality, size of meal and the excellent service and setting. A great Whisky collection and I believe it’s one of the largest collections in New Zealand. Once again well done.
Four of us dined at Indigo, 2 had been before many times and it was a 1st time for myself & one other.
Indigo is a fine dining Indian restaurant in central Napier. The food is cooked in a traditional charcoal Tandoor oven which enhances the flavour of the food. Most of thei wines and foods are sourced locally. Excellent menu choices and great flavours.
we took our relations from Wales to Indigo for a meal before they left for home, they were very impressed with the service and of course the meal. I have to say that the meal I had was by far the best I have had, the spicy lamb chops are very very good and the pawn starter was excellent
Superb building in beautiful Napier. The owners have made service a priority and it shows. Beautifully presented menu and superb food. I had the catch of the day as a tandoori starter and then a combination of the best of New Zealand and India with a lamb shank in the chef's own curry sauce.
Food is very good and very good value for money. The most authentic Indian food in Napier and the service is excellent. Recommended!
this restaurant is perfectly situated within napiar and owned by a british restaurantaur. the restaurant was beautifully decorated with high ceilings and a long bar with a back drop of different spirits.
We have eaten here several times and also get takeaways from here on the odd occasion. The food is always fantastic and generous portions. It is a little more pricey than other Indian restaurants but we think it is worth it for the portion sizes and quality of the meat. I am usually inspired to try something completely different than my usually Indian fare and have never yet been disappointed. Our Kids love the food from here as well. I would recommend booking first.
Loved this place - food was outstanding, staff attentive and an impressive wine list - if you are after a good curry I would certainly look no further than indigo.
